Charmaine Tam (b.1996) graduated California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, CA in three years with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. She went to Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, CA while concurrently enrolled in the local community college completing over one year (60 transferable credits) before being admitted.

Charmaine’s early childhood included yearly visits from her hometown, San Francisco, to her extended family in Hong Kong. Being a world traveler at the timid age of 1, the unique cultures around the world has sparked her curiosity for the different psychological wants each individual has. This led her to pursue a career in marketing and communication allowing her to analyze the many reasons why something is appealing to a group of people.

“I remember watching the tv ad in Hong Kong and remember feeling very confused through the commercial even though I knew the language. I wouldn’t know what they were selling or the feeling they were trying to evoke with the ad. Was it another tv show? An event? I knew I felt excitement... It was a snack commercial. At no point did I feel hunger during the commercial or ended with a “I need it now” feeling. That was my first interaction with target markets.”

On her free time, Charmaine stays informed about the latest fashion and beauty trends. She uses these tips to create a unique style and form of self expression through fashion. Social media has always been an interest to Charmaine. During middle school, she created a blog on Tumblr curating over ten thousand followers before high school. Charmaine also takes photographs that thrive to capture the elements and character of a person or event.
