5 Late Fall Fun with Your Pup in New York City 2020

A round up of things to do with your dog as it gets colder…brrrr….

(DISCLAIMER*:THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS AT NO EXTRA COST TO YOU. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING)

With the threat of COVID still looming, it’s important to remember to wear a mask-even outdoors and remaining 6ft apart. In NYC, it’s common to be closer than 6ft at any bottlenecked area like an entry way, subway, or while checking out-be safe! It’s also important for you and your pup, dog, fur baby to walk around for exercise. Don’t forget to bring a holiday dog sweater to take lots of cute pictures in! Check out the one Russ is wearing here! Here are some outdoor spots you guys can enjoy together! They are completely free to enjoy for the Christmas Spirit.

5. Radio City Music Hall

Address: 1260 6th Ave, New York, NY 10020

Although the actual radio hall is closed, they do have some decorations on Avenues of America. Take your pup to the edge of the fountain for a cute holiday photo. This photo op is a pyramid stack of red Christmas Ornaments. The display is completely outdoors without specific entry. Be sure to stay away from other parties and wait for your turn. (: The great thing about this location is that is very close to a bunch of other Christmas Photo Ops for your furry family! Just a couple blocks away, you’ll find our next destination!

4. Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

Address: 45 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10111

Hours: 5:30AM-11:30PM Everyday, 24hrs on Christmas Day

After a dramatic transformation from the Rockefeller Christmas tree including some “hair extensions”, the tree is lit and ready for it’s close up! (SECRET TIP: To prevent grounding inside the Rockefeller Plaza, visitors are requested to scan a QR code close to the entry way to be notified when there’s available capacity for viewing.) There will be access to the tree from all sides of the block! Come take a photo of your dog while practicing social distancing in New York City!

3. Hudson Yards

Address: 20 Hudson Yards, New York, NY 10001

Hours: M-F 11AM–7PM

A truly captivating experience night or day. The rows of trees that lead up to Hudson Yards Vessel is immaculate. The inside of the mall is also decked out in holiday decorations. If you need to buy gifts for any loved ones and do not want to go to too many places, this is a great option for getting into the spirit! There’ll be many photo ops along the way! Of course, the Vessel is available, however, free passes seem limited and the flex entry is $10. Not expensive, and definitely not as hard to get your hands on than when the Vessel had its grand opening last year (sold out completely basically for purchase and free administration unless you didn’t work a 9-5). Click this to reserve tickets to see the vessel. This can still be a free experience to take photos outside of all the trees or inside the mall.

2. Lotte New York Palace

Address: 455 Madison Ave at 50th Street, New York, NY 10022

Hours: come at a reasonable hour since it’s a hotel they might be weird about loitering later at night.

If you want a glamorous, tall tree, this one is for you. Right by Radio City and Rockefeller Center, Lotte New York Palace is the place to take a quiet amazing photo with a Christmas tree. Unlike Rockefeller with an ice rink and other festivities, the Lotte is slightly more secluded and tucked away (or as tucked away as can be in New York City). (SECRET TIP: Position your NYC dog a little away from the tree to make sure you can get the very tip of three in the shot!)

1. Lillie's Victorian Establishment

Address: 13 E 17th St

Hours: Tue-Thurs 4-10PM, Friday 3-10PM, Sat-Sun 12PM-10PM

Lillie’s store front is such a cute change of speed to the 5th Avenue window displays. This little victorian gem is by Union Square. If you live downtown like me, and rarely get caught uptown, this is the spot for you! It’s so charming with its two nutcrackers framing this beautiful window display. As you look inwards, the room is completely decorated for Christmas. They are still serving food at their establishment so please remember to tip your waiter well during this “unprecedented/scary/unknown” times.
